Pretty Poor Materials (4w, 2m)

"Pretty Poor Materials" tells the story of Mark Twain's time in Hartford through the lens of his Irish-American maid, Katy Leary. Katy must keep her sanity while enduring the insanity of the mentally and physically ailing Clemens daughters out of sight of her abusive employer.

  • Developed as part of The Jackalope Theatre Playwrights Lab under Calamity West.

"DREAM roles for the actresses and actors in your troupe. Davidson lifts the veil and brings us the real-life story of Mark Twain's maid and his daughters. [...] But it's testament to Davidson's gifts as a storyteller that the audience member would almost prefer to spend more time with Katy and the Clemens girls than their father and Nikola Tesla. Exquisitely done. ” -Matthew Weaver
